What is roll stock?
Roll stock is printed flexible film wound onto a roll and supplied to form-fill-seal equipment. The packaging machine forms the bag, fills the product and seals the package. Film dimensions and properties must match the equipment.
What are premade pouches?
Premade pouches arrive already converted into the final bag shape. The packer opens, fills and seals them. They can support stand-up gussets, zippers, valves and other features without the brand owning a pouch-making line.
Equipment and speed
Roll stock often suits automated lines designed for high-throughput production. Premade pouches can reduce the conversion work done on the filling line but require equipment capable of handling individual bags.
SKU complexity
Many brands run numerous designs. The most economical approach depends on quantity per SKU, print technology and operational setup. Do not compare only the total annual volume.
Features and presentation
Some features are easier to source in premade pouch formats, while roll-stock lines can be optimized for efficient automated production. The correct answer depends on the package, machinery and consumer experience.
